Red Thread

Terms of Use

Updated June 2026

The Red Thread is operated by Rachel Forbes (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

The service

The Red Thread is a catalog of true-crime and cult documentaries with streaming availability, ratings, reviews, and community-sourced information, plus social features for following friends and sharing recommendations. It is provided for personal, non-commercial use.

Your account

You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Choose a username that isn’t offensive and doesn’t impersonate someone else; we may reclaim handles that do. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account.

Community content

You can write reviews and add ratings, tags, votes, reports, and title suggestions. You retain ownership of what you submit and grant us a license to host, display, and distribute it within the app, including showing your reviews and activity to people you’ve approved to follow you. There is zero tolerance for objectionable, abusive, harassing, hateful, or illegal content. We may remove any content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without notice.

Social features & conduct

The Red Thread lets you follow other people, see their activity, and suggest titles to friends. Be decent: don’t harass, spam, impersonate, or send unwanted suggestions, and don’t use the social features to distribute prohibited content. Follow requests require approval, and you can block anyone to stop them following or contacting you. We may limit or remove access to the social features for anyone who abuses them.

Reporting & moderation

Every title has a Report option. Tap the flag on its page to report a problem (incorrect details, wrong streaming, objectionable content, and more) and pick a category. You can also report a review or a community tag, and block another user. Content reported by enough users is automatically hidden pending review. We act on reports promptly. For anything else, email support.theredthread@gmail.com or use the Send Feedback option in the app.

Content warnings are best-effort

Content warnings are AI-assisted and community-sourced. They are provided to help, but may be incomplete or wrong and are not a guarantee. Always use your own judgment; do not rely on the app as the sole indicator of sensitive content.

Availability data

Streaming availability is sourced from third parties and may be out of date or inaccurate. Confirm on the streaming service before relying on it.

Disclaimer & liability

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app.

Changes & contact

We may update these terms; continued use means you accept the changes. Questions? Email support.theredthread@gmail.com.
